The art of manufacturing concrete tiles

I get some customers coming to my showroom commenting something along the lines of "oh, you make concrete tiles, that must be so simple to do". And my thoughts go something along the lines of "well, if you think it's so simple go right ahead and give it a go".

Admittedly there are many companies doing similar things that we do, we use concrete to make pavers & tiles. Simple – yes. An old saying comes to mind..."something is only easy if you know how". We have a recipe – highly refined & tested recipe by 'concrete doctors' if you like.

Various ingredients go into our recipe – of course the basics like cement, sand & stone. But there are others too. Without these IN THE RIGHT QUANTITIES and you have an inferior tile to an Africotta tile, or what I like to call a reject tile. (that's the perfectionist in me speaking now!) And some days we even get reject tiles, things like the weather, hot days, cold days, windy days, rainy days, wet sand etc. all come into play & affect how the tiles come out.

We have to carefully gauge every day before we start an order & take these things into account. So, for those of you, who think this is a simple process, remember "something is only easy if you know how".
